Today is my third day of early starts at work to avoid the Olympic mayhem.
I am enjoying seeing London first thing in the morning and also getting home super early. So far, London is really quiet and there has been little travel disruption. hoping it stays that way. Getting home at 3:50pm makes me feel like I am coming home from school! I get my drink and snack and get to work on some craft before it's even dinner time! Amazing!
My current craft of choice is paper cutting. My very lovely friend Ana gave me a voucher for The Make Lounge and I chose to do the Paper Cutting class as I figure it would require minimum expenditure to do it a home and I was correct. Armed with my Scalpel I am happily working my through my August birthday list and cutting up tiny pieces of paper! Hope everyone appreciates it.

Olympics Madness
One of my projects at work over the last few months has been Olympic planning!
Looking at how we as a business might be affected and how we can ensure the continued smooth running or our Head Office and that our staff are safe as they travel around. After much discussion, a number of meetings and attending briefings by various organisations linked to travel in London and groups within the location of our office we have a plan.
So for the main 2 weeks of the Olympics I will be working 7:30am to 3:30pm! After dragging myself out of bed this morning at 7:30am I am not too sure how up for this I really am.
London Bridge Station staged an Olympics travel "rehearsal" this morning and I assume it will be in place this afternoon also. As one who uses the station regularly I found that all the people with their recorded megaphones pointing in random directions and those shouting out directions a little confusing. The station was busy as usual, and as most of us knew where we needed to go it was chaotic but OK. However add in a million people from the rest of world, I am not too sure it will be the same story.
When I arrived at work, I was talking with my deaf colleague about his experience at London Bridge this morning. He said it was very confusing, with people pointing etc.. I am aware that TFL are employing people who speak various different languages to be at stations all over London to help the tourists, but are they providing signers for our deaf colleagues and friends?
I am intrigued to see how things play out this afternoon, as from what I can work out you need to know which platform your train is leaving from to know where you need to queue.
Great Britain better win a whole lot of gold medals to make all this mayhem and madness worthwhile!
Roll on September...

the week that was
Gosh this week feel like it has been an emotinal rollercoaster. It started with my Nana having major heart surgery on Monday morning. Praise God that less than week later she is doing amazingly well. Various other stuff has gone on through out the week.
I am not doing so well with this whole lent thing! I think I will start again next week. I figure God is all about Grace and second chances!
Investigated joining the gym but have decided that it is too many pennies and I need to find cheaper exercise options!
I must get fit and loose weight, so many weddings, so little time!!

migraines 2008
Today and Monday I was off work having woken very early both mornings with a migraine. Not fun I have to say. Today I thought I was feeling better, went for a walk around the block and when I came back had to go back to bed for an hour! It's rubbish, I can feel all the tension in my neck so am trying to chill out. This is made harder by lots of stuff going on!
Boy am I glad it's the weekend and that Pete is home after a week away at college! Missed him lots this time, despite being quite used to him going away these days!

wedding stationary
Have spent the last few days being a bit crafty! It's been a while but I had fun. I was making some prototype wedding invitations for my Brother and his fiance. They may not like them, but I have definately enjoyed myself.
Have also tried to crochet but as of yet am a bit rubbish! Am thinking I must try harder, however it is in my nature to give up if I can't do things really well, straight away!! Hense still not really playing/practising my guitar, despite it's beautiful pinkness!
Am really looking forward to my day off tomorrow! Hooray!

walking through the bible
Last night we took our youth group through a whistle stop tour of the Old Testament, with a little help from the Lego Bible and Issy (Former Theology student!).
It was great, going through the timeline and discussing where we think people's relationship with God was at varying points in the journey. It was a really great time of learning for all of us, young and not so old!
Taking a moment to remember God's promises to his people was helpful, especially as thus far January has lived up to the impending sense of doom I felt about it on New Years Eve.
As the big man said to Josh, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Words I am holding onto this year.

NEW YEAR/NEW TEMPLATE
I am going to try and keep the old blog up to date from now on!
I confess that I have become Facebook obsessed, but I am not sure how healthy it is.
So onwards and upwards into a year of possibilities!

THE OLD IVORIES!
Well, I finally came out! I have had excruciating tooth ache for far too long, but due to a huge phobia of the dentist, I have kept it a secret, hoping and praying (Literally!) that it would go away!
I went to the dentist on Thursday, very scary! He was very nice to me, but funnily enough there is a lot of work that needs to be done! I suppose it would if you haven't been to the dentist for 10 years!!!! I have an abcess!! OUCH!!!
So next Wednsday I am going back for root canal, the beginning of a few visits i believe, although I have been given sedation drugs to help me with my fear! So we'll see how thas goes!!!
All prayers welcome, as it is preying on my mind alot!

TIME HEALS!
Well today I went to the Teddington Walk in Clinic (which was quite nice actually!). They couldn't do more xrays, but the nurse poked and prodded my arm (hard!) and seemed to think it was bad soft tissue damage too!! So very painful, but this time I was given some advise as to what to do! She also said that it will take weeks to heal!! Whoopee!!!

OUCH!
I went to hospital yesterday! Whoops! Silly me, I was on a round about in a children's playground with friends (and a child!). I wasn't holding on and the boys started spinning us really fast! Moments before I went flying off the round about I shouted "Stop, I'm going to fall off!!" At which point I fell off quite badly! Because I was so dizzy, I tried to stand up and fell over again, at which points the pain in my arm was immense! I went and sat down and went very faint and sick. When that passed my arm felt V dodgy and so I went to Ealing hospital to get it checked out! They don't think it's broken, just soft tissue damage, but it is painful and I can't drive can't really move and I have some pretty impressive bruises. Not sure how long it takes to get better!??? Soon I hope as I feel pretty helpless!!
The week is ever busy, so onwards and upwards!!

LOOK WHOS BACK
Well the excuse for the length of time since my last post is two fold. I was finishing my CPP course, (big piece of work, left to last minute!) and I have become obsessed with Facebook!! (I feel a bit disloyal to blogger).
So the course is now over and I await my final grade. I pretty much know I have passed, unless I have done something terribly wronf with my last piece of work as I got distinction for all 4 of my assignments!! I know shocker really - who would have thought it?
I had a great weekend as my Dad go tickets to the Rugby at Twickenham and Wasps won. We also had tickets for the official picnic, so for a few hours after the match we were celebrating with the team. Was great fun - only would have been better if pete could have come too but sadly he had to work!!

THE HOLIDAY IS OVER
In a few hours, our holiday will be over! Boo Hoo!
Funnily enough I have been quite happy not going to work for the last week, but I guess that's life. So tomorrow it's back to the grind stone and college!
Thank goodness it's only a few weeks and college will be over! Also very scary as I have tonnes to do before then!!!
